Policy concerning the behaviour of staff towards library patrons. The patrons who frequent our library facilities are entitled to receive thoughtful and courteous welcoming. They are entitled to equal treatment regardless their age, race, gender, or social class. The patrons are entitled to use the library’s facility for purposes other than those related to library activities. They cannot be denied the use of the restroom, for example. They also can use the library as a warming up center in winter and cooling off center in summer. Not reading, writing, participating in programs, or using the computers should not be deemed as “loitering”. Patrons are also entitled to use the library for the purpose of socializing, providing they are not disruptive of order. This policiy was approved by the Board of Trustees on December 14, 2015.
