Meeting Room Policy

The Union City Public Library Board of Trustees authorizes the Union City Public Library to use its meeting room at 43rd Street for library sponsored and co-sponsored programs. In addition, the meeting room is available to be used by non-profit organizations upon the timely filling out of a request to use the meeting room form. There is no charge for the use of the meeting room. The meeting room is only available during normal library hours and must be vacated 30 minutes before library closure.

The applications to use the meeting room must be made in advance of the event, and submitted to the Library Director for consideration. All meetings on library premises are open to the public and no fees are to be charged. Attendance at meetings is restricted in accordance to fire codes of the City of Union City.

Meeting room is not available for the benefit of individuals or for profit-making purposes.

Priority availability is for groups who provide services to the residents of the City of Union City (first priority), to the residents of Hudson County (second priority), and to others.

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the Library.

The Library will not be responsible for equipment, supplies, or exhibit material owned by an individual or group and used in the meeting room. The individual or organization are responsible for any damage to the library equipment or premise. Any damage must be reported to the Library Director who will arrange for repairs or cleaning the cost of which must be borne by the organization.

The Library Board neither approves, nor disapproves of content, topic, subject matter or point of view of individuals or groups using the Library's meeting room.
