Welcome to the Union City Public Library, NJ. In addition to the Main library which was established in 1904, the library boasts a Branch which opened to the public a century later. The Branch library is conveniently located at 1800 Summit Avenue in close proximity to the Jose Marti middle school, and it replaces an older Carnegie building which now houses the Museum of the City of Union City. With branches established a hundred years apart the Union City Public Library offers the best of both worlds; from the old stained glass which graces the second floor of the Main library, to the state of the art new facility at the branch. Both the Main and the Branch offer programs that meet the needs of both adults and children, and the attendance at its Summer Reading Program topped 2000 participants in 2014. The library continues to grow with the addition of both physical electronic material, and involvement with various community based organizations. As in the past we look forward to serving both the residents of Union City and those of adjoining communities.
